“oh deer” “deer to my heart!”

My parent’s hosted the shower at their house. It was suppose to rain through the whole shower so we moved all the decorations inside (didn’t rain at all during the shower, but the tables probably would have sunk into the ground had we put it outside as it rained the day before).

This was such a fun last minute idea that my Mom and I came up with. Originally we were going to have people make things to put on the mobile but since we used so many different kinds of ribbon it was going to clash. So we decided to use her cricut paper cutter and cut out flowers for people to write sweet messages to our daughter. It also took place of a sign in book. We used embroidery hoops for the different levels. We got a lot of fun sweet notes that we will cherish forever!

Our daughter’s name is going to be Libby and as soon as my Mom found out she started singing an old jingle from the vegetable company. “If you like Libby’s, Libby’s, Libby’s on the label, label, label you will, like it, like it, like it on the table, table table.” So with it being a barbeque co-ed baby shower we thought it would be fun to print out vintage Libby’s labels and put them on cans with plants. Which we used real plants so we could transplant them into our garden (my husband has a green thumb!). Bella helped me transplant them into two large pots and is watering them with Daniel every day.

This wall was one of my favorite details of our shower! My friend Jen (we have known each other for years, she was my maid of honor in our wedding, our daughters birthdays are less than a week apart, so pretty GREAT friend!) and sister in law Heather made the tissue paper poofs and fans for it. They did such a GREAT job! We were originally going to hang them with string onto a shower curtain rod but decided to just use push pins and hang them on a wall in the house (a LOT faster than hanging!). The cool part is that we transported them to our house and now my other daughter Bella has this on her wall behind her bed. When she saw it she walked to me with her arms open for a big hug and said “You are awesome!” SOOOO worth transporting to the house and hanging it up (while pregnant)!

My Mom owns a company Fine Arts Bakery which they make a lot of really cool cookies and cakes. If you need something for your shower or even wedding PLEASE check her out! She does a lot of hand painted cookies too that are amazing! But because of time constraints of getting all of this done she did something a little more simple but SUPER cute! I LOOOOVED the cake! It was ADORABLE and gluten free (for me!). I drew three little wooden dolls to look like me, my husband and daughter Bella to go on top then made a “welcome Libby” sign that she hung as a banner. She also added super cute bunting around the cake.

We had quite a bit of food as well! We had these fun veggie cups, loaded mashed potato salad, beans, corn on the cob, hot dogs for the kids ( a lot and I was a little preoccupied to take photos of it all). But it was SUPER yummy!

We used mason jars for the the non-alcholic drinks and put out markers for people to write their names on the labels to keep from someone putting down their drink and loosing it and then having to wash a million mason jars all day. Which turned out to be awesome with my pregnant brain I lost my drink a couple of times! And I LOOOOOVE paper straws, just super adorable (we got these from Terra Toys on Burnet I think there were about 100 for $6, a lot cheaper than Etsy, local, and no shipping!).

My Mom made the lemonade, cherry limeade then my Mother in law made the sweet tea and my Dad made the home brew beer which I heard was really good!

And my Dad’s name is David Wright so my Dad and brother thought it would be funny to name the beer “Dam Wright Brew”.

We had pulled pork sliders with cute little flags (even though I shouldn’t have eaten the buns being gluten intolerant, I ended up with a headache, but it was SUPER yummy)!

We also had these yummy fruit sugar cones. They were perfect personal servings for the kiddos so they wouldn’t load up on all the candy. Which was awesome because now I will have something to suck on during labor (I read they will let you suck on candy during labor just not eat anything).

We had these super cute photobooth props made up but because of the weather we scratched the photobooth and just went around and took a couple of photos with people “wearing” the baby photobooth props.

We got a bunch of little wooden dolls for people to decorate and were going to set out paint but decided that it would be a little messy especially with 15 kids. So we put out sharpies instead. These were several of the dolls that the kids made for Libby, so precious! And Bella LOOOOOVED making more even after the party was over.

We had a pregnancy photoshoot the week before done by my good photographer friend Liz. We had some printed and put them on the bunting that was all around the house. I LOVE LOVE LOVE how the photos came out and can’t wait to get larger prints made to hang in the house!

So I was a little insane but I made the Barbeque sauce that we used for lunch that day and bottled some for people to take home as a “thanks for coming”. It is gluten free “but still yummy” I created the labels as well. Might have to make more and sell it in the future it is pretty “lipsmacking” . I came up with this recipe based on my father in law’s barbeque sauce recipe and he was ok with me sharing it (just not the recipe, of course!)

Family photo, we had a great time! It was a lot of fun and a lot of love put into the shower and given by the guests that came. I am so thankful for all of our wonderful friends and family!

And proud daddy can’t wait to see our new little girl, so there you have it our SUPER fab baby shower! Now we just need the baby! Come out sweet Libby so we can take a

The littlest bridesmaid kept running back and forth and she had on “high heels” so throughout the ceremony you heard the clip clopping of her shoes. Until my assistant coaxed her over to her and took her shoes off. Reminded me of my nephew (who was 4 at the time) who kept throwing pebbles at our outside “alter” and that was all I could hear.

The ring bearer wanted the real rings to be tied to the pillow . Also I saw the officiant before the ceremony and realized “Oh my gosh!” this is my old pastor. A couple of days before I felt like we were suppose to go back to his church but I was wanting Daniel to make the decision so after the wedding I talked to Daniel about going back and he was excited. We went the next day! He is a super sweet guy and if you are looking for a church we would love for you to come with us, Austin Cornerstone.

This one is us just being silly while waiting for our food at Annie’s on Congress. He got these tatoos because I have low blood pressure so the Dr. told me that I am able to eat as much salt as I want (Thanks Dad!! then he got the pepper for our daughter who is “spicy” although she wants to be like mommy so she always says she is the salt too .

I’m a lucky woman! I got him a massage (that we have to reschedule because they accidentally booked us for the wrong time, oh well things happen.) and both of us a night stay at Casulo hotel here in town, we has our own in ground Japanese bath! We also went to see Dark Shadows at Ipic, wasn’t as funny as I thought it would be! Daniel walked out with the same feelings he had watching Breaking Dawn when he went with me to see that not really a cheesy vampire fan. Then Saturday we went to Annie’s on Congress it was awesome! Sooooo going back. I wanted to surprise Daniel with dinner so we went to Whole Foods and picked out what we wanted (not the surprise part).

He is so cute! I love him and all his quirky facial expressions.

Then I blindfolded him and drove to the top of the parking garage downtown where he proposed. It was awesome! We danced to the same song he played when he proposed then ate on a blanket.

I got those battery tea lights just in case because at our wedding it was soooo windy that all the hundreds of candles we bought wouldn’t light!

It was a pretty sunset and a pretty sweet view but the best view of all was my sweet husband! (You can follow me on Instagram if you want just look for jessica_monnich, this will be my new real-life contact for clients as I turned of my facebook a little while ago.)

So I wanted to share our experience with you all because you don’t have to go to Jamaica (which we were hoping to do but with airfare, hotel, food, and spending money it was a little much plus we wanted to use Daniel’s big bonus from work to pay off most of our bills so that maybe next year we can go!) for it to be a nice anniversary. Also that love can last and that once the dress is packed away (and in my case doesn’t fit anymore) the best thing from your wedding that still remains years later is your LOVE! So while your planning your wedding take a deep breath and remind yourselves why you are doing all of this….. LOVE (and maybe get a good planner like Beth of Stylish happenings .

P.s. More wedding related posts on their way! Been a little crazy around here with weddings, my daughter’s birthday, then her getting sick for a week, our anniversary, mother’s day…. anything else we want to cram into this month? BUT I love my life and am sooooo thankful for it all!
