So I met and booked Stephanie and Nick over a year ago! They are such a sweet couple! They totally love each other and are meant for each other. The thing I love most is Stephanie’s AMAZING smile! It takes over her face and there is NO doubting she is estactic! I also loved the fact that she changed into three dresses! She had her wedding dress, then a traditional red Chinese dress, after the photos in that she slipped into a blue party dress that she could bust a move in! I got to work with Bethany Childress of 36th Street Events and it was FABULOUS! The makeup artist was AMAZING (helps to have gorgeous women to start with ;) as well as the hairstylist! SOOO Fabulous! The flowers were so vibrant and poppy. Everything was so pretty and unique to the couple. GREAT job Bethany! So here are some of the fabulous images that were result of this beautiful day!

From the moment I met her I KNEW we were meant to be! Photographer and bride that is :) She gave me a big hug as though we had known each other for years. We talked and planned for her fabulous wedding and engagement session over a glass of wine and delicious food at South Congress cafe. (since the economy got a little rough I have stopped meeting here :( to save some money and put towards debt and getting my own equipment!) When all the planning was hashed out she left the resturaunt with a hug too! I KNEW she was going to be my number one fan! Because of her and Jay I was published in Austin American Statesman on the front page of the Life and Arts section!!! All of that to say we never got a chance to take bridal pictures of the fabulous Carol! So in exchange I told her that we would shoot after the wedding with her in her dress and him in his tux (he bought it since he is an awesome lawyer and could use it for business dinners, Jay Smith- Carol tell me his info and I will put it up :) . So I was totally excited about this shoot but they kept me waiting…. waiting and …. waiting :) Till finally we set a time and date and these are the AMAZINGLY fabulous images that came of that hot hot day! (PHEW All done Jay PROMISE, until you have a baby that is :)

Shelby and I were friends when we were teenagers. We spent the night at each other’s houses. Applied face masks and told secrets. Then we both grew up and went in two totally different directions. She is now a teacher in China!! Like I said totally different directions. Before Facebook ;) it was a little more difficult to keep up with everybody’s business so we ended up loosing touch. (Which I have since appologized to Shelby for) Well one day on Facebook I see that she is engaged!! I am totally thrilled I think to myself OMG I HAVE to photograph their wedding! I don’t care if I have to fly to China to do it! Well I did! It was an AMAZING experience! I can now say that China will always be in my heart! One of these days I want to take my husband to see what Shelby and Stephen are up to over there.

So a little side story about them from what I remember (Shelby tell me if this is wrong ;) they are both american and ended up meeting at a garden that Shelby loved to go to and then became friends and the love grew from there. So I mentioned that Shelby is a teacher, well Stephen is an AMAZING artist! I will be posting some of his work and a link to his site soon after I finish with the wedding post. They are such a sweet couple and compliment each other so well! Their humor is AMAZING and together will crack up the sourist of people :) ie Chinese taxi drivers :) HA HA HA I don’t know what I am talking about ok on with the pics….

So the wedding was held at The Orchard in Beijing China. The ceremony was on a little island surrounded by a moat outside of the resturant. The island is just big enough to hold the little screened structure were the ceremony took place. Then it had this beautiful bridge to it so of course I had to take a pic of them on it! So this is just the ceremony more to come!

Amanda and Kyle tied the knot! They are such a sweet couple! They met at a gym when they were teens and fell in love. You can see Amanda’s Bridal portrait here! They married at the BEAUTIFUL St. Mary’s cathedral here in Austin Texas. Their wedding colors were a DEEP blue and BRIGHT orange. Perfect for their summer wedding. The reception took place at Inn at Pearl Street which even though it was VERY hot it was GORGEOUS and the guests had a GREAT time! (I think I drank 7 sprites that night :) just to keep hydrated).Enjoy!

So my first “Destination Wedding” assignment went AMAZINGLY! I was welcomed warmly by Shelby and her now husband Stephen. Shelby and I were friends as teenagers and lost touch when she moved to China. (Facebook and myspace weren’t popular at the time so it was a little harder to keep in touch although I wish I would have tried harder!!) The flight was about 16 hours!!! Luckily I had gotten a SUPER comfy neck pillow! :) I was a little scared that I wouldn’t get my Chinese Visa and passport back in time to be able to go. But it all came in JUST in time! (Now one less thing to worry about for my next destination assignment :) Before the wedding I had the chance to go to “The GREAT WAll” with Stephen and his family. It was GREAT time getting to know his Mom and Dad and sharing stories with Stephen. I also had the opportunity to see Stephen’s AMAZING artwork which I will share with you after this blog post. Then came the one of the sweetest and memorable weddings I have shot (I guess it being a friend made it that much more special). It was soooo precious I got a shot of Shelby with tears POURING down her face (it was all out of joy and excitement). Then after the wedding we went to Tiananmen Square. While there we photographed thier after shots at the GORGEOUS Capital M in Beijing. I will share those at the end. I hope you enjoy the pics as much as I enjoyed taking them :) . Best wishes Shelby and Stephen!!  See you in December for your 80′s wedding!!
